Somehow I made it through all of NaNoWriMo trying to be a rebel and write D&D wiki articles and it did not even cross my mind that I have been neglecting this blog for most of the year. I guess that’s par for the course with me and, like always, I’m back again to make another go at it. I don’t plan on making apologies or excuses this time for my absence, but instead, I’m going to jump right into what I am working on now and what I want to be working on soon.
The Approaching Crve
Oh Riverdale, my current television obsession! How I can hardly contain my ridiculous passion for thee!
I know that I sound like a teenage fangirl despite my rapid approach on 30, but this pulpy, over-dramatized teen soap speaks to so many of my favorite things on television. From the atmosphere that oozes angst to the canonically irreverent writing, I cannot seem to get enough of this show.
Hit the jump for my experimental photoshoot inspired by Betty Cooper and her dalliances with the dark side of town. Continue reading
Come Sail Awy…
My new tradition for the Christmas Holiday involves a road trip up and down the 101 in California, all the way from my home in San Diego up to the redwoods of Eureka. Last Christmas, while I had all the intentions of bringing my Viking dress to shoot near the rocky shore, I left the whole dang thing at home. Luckily I did not make the same mistake twice.
So continuing on this year’s writing energy and combined with last year’s month’s productivity, I present another photoset!
We are Goldn
Happy New Year, everybody! With all the terrible weather on television and the general gloom hanging over Southern California, I am longing for warmer, sunnier days. Since going outside seems pretty awful at the moment, I am finally getting around to editing and posting the various shoots from over the last few months.
Before I move on to more narcissistic projects, I wanted to first share the Golden Dryad photoshoot from back in November. Life kept throwing itself in the way of Lily and me actually choosing from our raw images, but we finally found time to see each other (and flop around on the floor a lot). Hit the jump for some of my favorites and for a little more about the shoot!
Actually the Wrst
I believe that putting two months between blog posts (with the last one barely being an update) may put me in the running for worst blogger. For anyone who stuck around: thank you for hanging in there as I try to establish a routine. For the first time in a long time I have some posts planned that I’d love to get out to the world.
So what is on th horizon? Continue reading
If At First You Don’t Scceed,
Clearly, structure and routine are not my strong suits. Even a whole-hearted attempted at cosplay and lifestyle blogging took a nose-dive as soon as I had too create new content. In general, we don’t give enough credit to the people in this world who wake up every day and try to create something, even though it takes incredibly mental fortitude.
So, what has happened in the last three months? So much and so little, all at once. Continue reading
A Sttch in Time
Having not updated my Ren Faire garb since I was in high school, I have been severely lacking in early-European, historically-inspired outfits. That grungy aesthetic always calls to me, especially when you throw into the mix a reason to layer mismatched pieces and remove the need to smile for pictures. For San Diego Comic-Con 2016, my squad got our shield wall (and “SHIIEEELDD WAAAALLLL” cries) going for a Vikings group (inspired by the History Channel show that we are all obsessed with) that left us all exhausted and hoarse. But cosplayers are rarely happy with the first iteration of their costumer… Continue reading
Spin Cycle Me Rght Round
I said I wouldn’t go backwards, but I had to talk a little bit about my current project. A friend of mine, who seems to collect friends who cosplay Game of Thrones characters, has been pushing me to create a Melisandre for a while now and I’ve been putting it off for no good reason. In an attempt to ignore that my lease was ending and that I would soon have to move, I decided to start this project one month before I had to leave my apartment. My goal was to construct the base dress before I moved, which grew into a bigger project than expected.
Brace yourselves for some poor quality mirror selfies. This is your final warning. Continue reading
A Lttle Bit Batty, A Lttle Bit Betty
Oh, my dear Blg! I’m so sorry for ignoring both you and my own goals these past few months. Instead of playing catch up, I am simply going to charge forward as intended: going backwards won’t help me produce more content. Onwards! Yesterday was both Pin-Up Day and Bat’s Day at Disneyland and I have been dying to make it to more Unofficial Disney Days. In spite of the impending rain and cold, I curled hip my hair, threw on my heels, and skipped off to the park with my friend Kellie for excellent outfit watching. Continue reading
Pintrestd? Milk and Cookie Shots
Well, I fell off the blogging wagon almost as soon as I started. I expected as much in January; I did two weeks of back-to-back travelling for work and needed a bit of time to unwind. Luckily, I’m back on it, with a fun Pinterest project from a recent craft night with my girls. Introducing… milk and cookie shots.
